The Purple Crayon by Lopezboy ([email protected])
The mall was littered and dressed with Christmas decorations, classic Christmas music blared off from every direction. The place teeming with people from all walks of life. Business this time of the year was at its most brisk. You could hear the bargaining wherever you turn your head. The vendors and the vendee bidding and outbidding each other, some would say that 80% of total business sales was usually captured during this period. There was a faint, but rich scent of artificial scent of pine into the air, clerks wearing Santa hats all smiles hoping to lure more shoppers to their shops, there was very little room to move one’s butt around.
Arabella was inside one shop, hoping to buy herself stuffs she thought a mistress should have. She found a pair of black high heels with buckles smaller than her pinkies. A mischievous smile escaped her lips when she found what she thought was a very enticing red knee-length silk robe. Instead of the pantyhose she normally wore to work, she found sheer fabric of stockings with seam. She searched through heaps and piles of wardrobes and rambled through racks of negligees, pressed back hanger after hanger, until she found a cocktail dress made of elegant silvery fabric that matched her favorite colors. As she shopped, she thought about Adrian and what he’d done to her body. Nobody had explored her like that. He was a sweet dove, a starving cat, a possessed beast. She suddenly felt dampness between her thighs.
She remembered meeting Adrian one afternoon at a pet shop. She was going to be a first time dog owner and Adrian happened to be in the shop buying dog food. She was busy wandering around the small shop conversing with the shop clerk, when she noticed an attractive man, probably in his late 30s toying around with some of the pups, she surmised that he’s probably a regular in the shop. The man was tanned with rich black hair. He wore a blue shirt with collar and slightly loose jeans. He knew all the personnel and at ease chatting with them. She noticed no wedding ring on his fingers. He was smart, charming – quite disarmingly handsome.
The clerk continued to do her sales talk, and while she appeared to have her attention, she was actually keeping a furtive eye on Adrian. After a second, she thought she’d lost him.
”Looking for a new pet?”, Adrian’s presence from behind jolted her. She was startled to see that he was standing so close. She could feel the heat radiating off his skin, smell his sweat. And it sent electric waves down her womanhood. She fought hard not to convey any signals that might show indication that she liked him. But Adrian had noticed the little blush on her cheeks. “A lovely woman”, Adrian hissed to himself. He took off his glasses. Without them his face looked wider more boyish; when he smiled, two dimples appeared. Arabella needed some air or she’d faint.
”Yah, I’m actually looking for one, but couldn’t make up my mind”, she muttered.
”If you have big lawn, I suggest that you consider a Labrador Retriever, the world’s friendliest, but if you are looking for a watch dog, German Shepherd would be cool. Stay away from dogs that are too territorial. “
“Thanks for your suggestion, I’ll try to Google those dogs you mentioned. This will be the family’s first kasi”, she said toying her teeth with her tongue.
”Um…you might want to take my number, pwede kitang samahan dito next time…I could help pick the right dog for you, malapit lang naman ang bahay naman dito, and I know the owner of this shop, he could give you some freebies and discounts. Oh, by the way, my name is Adrian”, he offered a hand.
”My name is Arabella, but just call me Bella”, reaching his hand, while trying very hard to keep her composure. His thick brows provided a nice accent to his eyes – deep, soulful, penetrating, his cheeks were strong and his red lips curled and sensual.
She actually felt her knees quiver. He was a stunner.
”You are actually in the right place, kasi dito, you can be assured that the pups are healthy, may mga papers na lahat yan, a bit expensive, but saves you a lot of hassle”, Adrian quipped.
”As you can tell, wala talaga akong alam pagdating sa mga aso, I want to surprise kasi my little girl on her birthday.”
”Oh, happy birthday to her! Malapit na ba yun?”
”It’s happening this weekend”
”O sya, nice meeting you Bella”, he tapped her on the shoulder, and let his hand linger more than it should. Bella noticed it, she squirmed involuntarily.
They exchanged calling cards and then he started toward the door, she watched him walk away and disappear from the pet shop. She was radiant with a sense of expectancy; she just knew that she’d meet him again.
Arabella flagged down a Taxi, but before she could step right in, a sleek black Toyota honked from behind.
It was Adrian.

Moments later she was in his car.
”Adrian, let us get this straight, I’m married”
Adrian flashed a smile, and without saying a word held her hand.
She froze.
”Bella, let’s have lunch, and please don’t say no”, his soft commanding voice, seemed to ease her a bit.
And so they had lunch, Bella found out that Adrian was naturally conversational, and she could sense that he was a wide reader. He knows almost everything she threw at him. His words, his clear articulation, the obvious magnificence of his mind, and also perhaps the flush in his cheeks above his collar brought a hue of admiration to his face. They talked about work, sports and yes, pets. She easily felt loose and ease in his presence. He was funny, strange, magnetic…erotic.
Adrian told her, that he too is married, no kids yet and that his wife was out of town. To this she felt a spasm of disquiet. But knowing that she was away somehow made everything fair. And besides, it was just lunch, nothing else, she tried to convince herself.
After lunch, Arabella asked Adrian to drop her to a nearby mall. They were both silent on the way, though she was now firmly holding his hand in the car.
”How often do you do this?” Bella asked, trying to sound innocuous.
”Do what?”, a playful grin escaped him.
”Dating strangers?” She retorted back.
He laughs, trying to draw her near by circling his arm around her shoulders.
”Haaay naku! I don’t even know what I’m doing going out with you. Haven’t we just met? “ Arabella tried to raise up invisible walls to protect herself from what was coming.
”Don’t beat yourself up, wala pa naman nangyari, saka na pagmeron”, he joked.
”Don’t even hope for it”, she answered back. They were both chuckling.
Adrian parked the car inside the basement parking area, he scanned the place, making sure that nobody was near. And before Arabella could step out, he pulled her in and kissed her hard on her lips. She was startled for a moment, trying to catch her breath. And then she kissed him back. Their tongues intertwined. He was hard. But before she could feel the straining manhood off his pants, he pulled away.
”I will call you”, he kissed her cheek.
She went home thinking nothing but him, even when her husband made love to her that evening, her thoughts was with Adrian, every thrust his husband made, every moan that escaped her…while she was in bed with her husband, her spirit was making love with somebody else. Her husband was actually surprised, for that one evening she was feisty, aggressive, demanding…

That was how it all started, now she was looking for things that would make her more alluring and desirable for him. It had been a few weeks now since she met him at the pet shop. The dog was never really purchased. And though she felt a twinge of guilt every time they make love, in him, she felt desired, wanted, and longed for – something no one had ever made her feel. Not her past boyfriends. Not his husband.

”Mommy, can you help color my drawings?”, little Amanda said, trying to charm her mom away from the computer that had made her busy.
Arabella, smiled at her. “Sige anak, tulongan kita diyan. Is that a homework of yours?”
”Yes, mom…”
Arabella stared at her daughter’s drawings : the sun spraying her rays across a mountain, a nipa hut, cattles and what seemed like a family joining their hands together, typical of drawings done by kids of little Amanda’s age. She noticed the natural talent of her little girl, at age 5, she can draw shapes and objects with very little difficulty. It made her proud and earned little Amanda a sweet and tight squeeze from her.
Little Amanda gave her a crayon, and she started shading. This went on for a few hours, both mom and daughter having a great time.
At eight in the evening, Arabella received a text message, it’s from her husband advising her that he will be very late as he was trying to meet a deadline at the office. She informed little Amanda across her bed hugging a teddy bear about to sleep.
She grabbed a chair and stared at her reflection in the mirror; long – lashed big brown eyes, skin as pale as paper, and contrast with her hair as dark and as glossy as a coffee bean. She dabbed a cream on her face, and thought she was still very attractive, striking as some of her officemates would call her. Her face glowed, rosy at the cheeks.
Her little narcissistic session was disturbed when her phone vibrated, it was Adrian.
”Cold evening, isn’t it?”, Adrian texted.
”Yep…what makes it worse, I’m all alone in bed…”, she flirted.
”It’s been a week, how have you been?”, Adrian asked.
”Work, family…been very busy….”, she answered.
”Wanna meet up? Tonight? She’s not here too…next week pa ang balik… I miss you..”
Arabella checked her clock, it would at least be 4 hours before her husband come home.
”Sige, your place…”, Arabella answered.

She walked next to him, lowered her head onto his shoulder. His hand twined through her hair. He hugged her, hard and she threw her arms around him. Their hands began coursing up and down each other’s backs and suddenly it was as if all the compressed tension they’d felt over the past week had been converted into a very different kind of energy…and now suddenly erupted.
”You are delicious”, Adrian held her never allowing her gaze to go elsewhere. ”What I want more than anything now is to probe you with my tongue”, Adrian added.
She batted her clit through her skirt involuntarily, “Do what you want with me Adrian, I’m starving …I need to be catapulted to heaven.”
The heat percolated through the room. His arms around her, under her legs, sweeping her up.
”Let’s do this there”, Arabella pointed to a huge dining table in the kitchen.
Adrian carried her and lay her upon it. He eased her down onto the table top. He first unbuttoned her blouse, his lips next to his, their tongues intertwined…Arabella was panting…He adroitly unhooked her bra off her back and threw it away. He worked down her neck, biting, Munching hard on her nipples, her navel, her thighs. He removed the only piece of cloth he was wearing all night, his jockey.
Then he was on top of her, his full weight on her chest, as his hands curled around the small of her back and tugged toward him. She was completely immobile, her breath forced out of her lungs by demanding strokes.
Arabella felt a similar hunger and she dug her nails into his solid back, her teeth clenched in a salivating lust for the pain it was causing.
They moved like this for minutes, or hours – she had no idea. Finally she screamed as she shuddered, her toes curling, her head bouncing against the table. He finished a moment later and collapsed against her.
He carried her to bed moments later. They made love two more times.
She dozed.

Little Amanda woke up from what she thought was a nightmare, her mom Arabella was being taken forcibly by an ugly fire-breathing dragon. She was sweating all over.
It was hot. The airconditioner must have broken down again, she thought . Then she noticed smoke…lots of smoke…the heat intensified….flames…the room was in flames…
”Mommy!! Little Amanda squealed, she ran onto her mom’s bed. She wasn’t there. She proceeded to the door, tried difficultly to open it.
”Mommy!! There’s fire!!”
Little Amanda watched in horror as her mom’s bed spewed more flames…the smoke had now completely filled the room…Little Amanda curled in a corner near the door, her voice now reduced into a whimper ….mommy….mom….where are you….

Arabella woke up a little hazy, she checked her watch and realized that she’d been asleep for 3 hours. She needed to rush home. She watched Adrian asleep, suddenly guilt consumed her…her husband…her little girl…this is all wrong, she thought, tears falling off her cheek…She was gonna see Adrian once maybe two more times then she’d tell him what they both knew all along that while what they have is especial, it is unfair to the people they truly love and care for…
She hurriedly picked up her clothes as she heard the song White Christmas drifted through the room, a smile formed on her face…she missed her Little Amanda… (End)
