On June 15, 1991, Mount Pinatubo exploded, it was a disaster that everyone in the world would never forget, but for him it’s a long journey heading towards her heart, it started when he came back from the city where they evacuated to his home town, many casualties brought by the volcano including him. One day he and his uncle went to the place called building it’s a resettlement site where he found the right one, he saw her there while she was walking from the outside going inside the building, believe it or not it was love at first sight. He remember clearly in his mind that every time he goes to the building she’s not always around to find, some of the kids there told him that her father is so strict, but he always waited. When they gather in the crowd they only smile to each other, Finally they had a chance to talk to each other and one afternoon her sister asked them if they liked each other and they agreed, so he’s so happy at that time he is just like floating in the air while riding home in his bicycle, but sad to say that’s the last time they talked near with each other.
One time he told his father that he liked this girl and she likes him also, his father replied that is just a puppy love, everyone undergone that stage and when he will meet a lot of girls he will just gonna forget her eventually. That’s a crap he said to himself at that time he is determined to do what he feels right. But there’s a problem it’s the thing that called “age”.
He was so young at that age when he knew that he loves her and she was also too young for him to feel that way, he was 14 and she was 11 and there’s nothing they can do but to set aside what they feel for each other, but sometimes they can’t ignore the feelings and they still share by sending love letters. There are times that they accidentally cross their path, no words coming out from them just staring to each other a sweet smile and walk away feeling the drumming of his heart and a cold sweat running out of his skin. He is a looser and a hopeless romantic, some says he doesn’t know how to dress himself, he doesn’t know how to dance, play basket ball although he can perform a bit in class. He also has three best friends helping him to struggle courtship with her. She’s beautiful and has a pretty smile that is always melt his heart. There are many events came in his life happy things and sad things, most of it are sad thing that’s why conflicts’ and insecurity flew over him.
It came to the point that one of his best friend told him that the girl he loves has a boy friend and he sealed his broken hearth with a smile though he knows that the girl he loves still loves him.
Sometime she rides his bicycle and stop not far from the girl’s house to catch a glimpse of her but he’s always disappointed. One day he decided to ignore about he’s feeling for that girl but always hoping that one day they can meet and have strength to tell her how much he loves her.
He courted some girls far from his place and one of his classmates to divert his feelings but he failed. Moving on is hard for him but the help of the family problems and school related problems he manage to move on, sometimes these problems are better than a love problem. After his graduation he decided to leave his place and set aside everything for a new chapter of his life,
His uncle helped him to get a job on a department store and lived with his uncle’s family.
He met a girl named Ghee, she’s pretty and became his girl friend they felt love but last only for six months, it is his fault why they broke apart. He is a jealous guy but he learned from this mistake he did and it hurts him a lot, he called his mother in Hong Kong and tell about it while he’s crying.
After the hurting he decided to go back to school, he lived with his cousin’s and eventually meet a lot of girls, to overcome Ghee’s memory he had to look for a new girl friend and he found Elisa, but she not the one who can help him to forget Ghee but this girl Cel a love stuck and love at first sight, the time seemed to stop at that very moment he’s looking at her, looking outside the mirror of the internet laboratory of the school all of the trace of Ghee’s history suddenly disappear, he did everything to get this girls heart but he failed too many rivals as he discovered, then Elisa disappeared just like a bubble without saying anything. Then Cel graduated and the chance of getting her heart came to zero, after all those heart ache and downfall then life goes on, he got all the available dates as he can get even with one gay but only a friendly date just to get along with.
Then a girl named Wen came his first time classmate girl friend they got along quite well until the graduation took them apart again and stayed with his mother and aunt house (he’s parents are separated). While looking for a new job he decided to drive to make a bit for living, and he met this girl Jacquelyn he knows that there’s nothing serious about their relationship and Wen is still there. But the two girls disappear once again. Too many heart aches now that’s why he starting dating again, if there’s an opportunity he grabs it, he learned to go the bars dink a little coz he never drink a lot he never smoke. A year passed again and everything is coming back to him, he prays every night for those girls who came in his life that they are fine and having a happy life, he always start with Jennie he’s first love.
Until one day their neighbor is looking for a computer programmer on the company that he’s working with, so he gave it shoot to apply for that position and he got it, after a year again he manage getting out of the office to the field with Engineer’s that he’s working with because of lack of manpower at that time and made a good friendship with them. Instead of hiring a new field service Engineer some of he’s colleague suggested that why not make him a Service Engineer, coz he’s already familiar with our work, so they agree. Going out in the field made him meet a lot of girls again, but now he’s careful about choosing and he prayed to god to give him someone special coz he wants to have someone that will last. then he met this girl Lizzy she’s simple nice and kindest of all, they started dating and stayed together for 5 years, many storm and trials came between them and surpass all of it. But there are times that he still falls to some else’s arms. waking up with someone else’s room and lying in someone else’s bed.
Getting a girl is not hard for him just one click of a mouse, surfing and chatting over the internet, he meet them of course far from his place he’s always careful about the moves he makes. He knows that he will stop someday but doesn’t know when. Sometimes while he pray’s he asked god for forgiveness and asking why he’s like that no matter how much he tries to change he always fall. Some friends told him it’s natural for a guy, others say just enjoy it while you’re still young. he knows he loves Lizzy so much but there’s something missing, he fought for the girl and the girl fought for him. sometimes he thinks he will never change.
One time he’s checking on his email when he went to India, One disturbing message he received from an old friend via messenger. A name that he will never forget on his entire life. Jennie Grace. He said to himself “wow this is not good” although what he feels it’s opposite of what he said. He remembered once he asked the lord “please give me someone special” and there is Lizzy, but he also remember one time on a movie or novel there’s a phrase saying that “if you will ask the lord for something he will not give it to you instantly” so some prayers would be granted for years or some would never be granted that’s what he concluded.
But still the drumming of he’s heart begun again just like before, all the memories of the past came back just like it only happens yesterday, after 16 years the memories became fresh on his mind. he can say he doesn’t love her anymore but his feeling is like a ragging storm, unstoppable that if anything gets on its way will be destroyed.
Then they talked once again this time they are strong enough to say what they feel, she’s not married that’s good news but had a boyfriend. He’s single but had a girl friend, but right now he is sure that he still love her as what he felt before, but he will be so mean if he will push away he’s girlfriend, so him and Jennie decided to be best of friends although it’s hurting him that way. Well at least friendship is better than nothing, then for a short period of time many things happened he went to Vietnam to work ,there’s too much work makes his relationship weakened and Nice Lizzy became jealous, the time came for them to argue there’s a problem at work and relationship is adding some pressure , he decided to leave his girl friend and it’s the best thing he can do because he knows he made a lot of bad things while he’s with her and that is fair for her, He will never change for a better person if he is with her the only one person who can change him is Jennie, but she is already committed and about to get marry.
Many pain and suffering passed by at this time he decided to move on alone, seldom he talk to Jennie just like an old friend, at least there’s someone to cheer him up sometimes, he take advantage of the time left until Jennie get settled on, so life goes on even though how many trials he’s gone through, He dedicated himself to his job and continuously living without anyone beside him. He knows he’s not getting any younger, but he can’t settle with the one he doesn’t love, he is just like a hunter waiting for a prey that if he found the one that he really loves he will grab on her and never leave her till death part them.
After a few months, Jennie decided to split up with her boy friend I won’t mention what is the reason but I’m sure it doesn’t do anything about him. Now they decide to be the best of friends and hoping that someday he will continue the chapter of his life that he closed on her. He’s hoping that there is a happy ending…
