Belated Merry Christmas everyone!!! I Just had a thought that perhaps we could deviate a bit again on the usual boner postings here since it’s a holiday, and new year is just a few days walk around the corner. Hehehe. To paraphrase Sizzling_Momma’s words; You really can’t fully appreciate the festivities when you’re having a hard-ons or a wet dripping TOOOOTTTT. Hayy… That’s moderator blipping me again.
Anyway, this post isn’t really a SURVIVOR post. I just copied and pasted it here from some quirky dude. Yeah I know, I violated my basic rule not to post some other guys work here. I did told the guy I’d post his work with his name on it, and the guy said; “Survivor, you TOOOTTTT!!!”. Hmmm… I think the guy wants to remain anonymous.
Well, I hope you find this post a bit relaxing on your touch sensitive parts…

ROADMAPS
By Ano-name-mo?-us
I once knew this guy who is a manager for a large electricity distribution company in Mindanao. What managerial position he holds? I’d rather keep it to myself. On first glance, everyone would say he’s OK. But then, as I always say, first impressions never really last because as time passed, I kept hearing negative things about him. Things that were not born out of professional jealousy but rather, by rank and file discontent on his management style. You see, he’s more like a politician than a manager (He actually ran for a government post. Quiet please…). And I remember having the same impression on him, long before I heard those comments. How my opinionated mind made such negative comment when I do not even know him that well? I got a chance to have a peek on his desk, his office actually…
Their main office was being renovated and he wasn’t around that day. I was actually looking for my friend, his secretary, when I came across his office. It’s a typical office, and I noticed all those quotations posted on the wall facing his desk. There’s a quote about “Leadership” written by a famous living general (A Republican who rooted for Obama. Esep Esep…), and there’s a quote about “Commitment” to name a few. No, I think it’s from another person’s office wall and SHE’s very pretty, very beautiful actually… Hehehe. And when I saw those cutouts plastered on the wall, my mind automatically registered one word to identify this guy. Jerk…
Back then, I have no idea why I have that impression on him. I never got to exchange serious talks or a lengthy conversation with the guy and yet there I was, making unpleasant, unspoken comments on him. Now I know why… You see, I remember that, most of the people I admire (my boss included), when I saw their office desk, or wall, I never saw anything that will resemble a full pledge inspirational words we call “quotable quotes”. In fact they’re an inspiration themselves. What I saw plastered on their desk wall are sales reports, financial analysis, and sales projections. And pictures. Yes, pictures of the people they love, people that made an imprint on their lives. Why? Because those are the things that are hard to remember when you are a good person. The pictures, well, they serve to remind you of the good things you get when you’re a good person.
When you’re a good person, and you’re sitting on a bench reading a newspaper and you come across an inspirational words. Well, you read it and like it because you already understand its meaning. And you gently fold the newspaper and leave it on the bench for other people to read and hope they come across the same words that inspired you to live. You don’t clip it and post it on your desk wall, because chances are, those words will only stay plastered on your wall.
To sum up my impression on people who paste those things on their wall. It’s either because it serves to remind them that they have to be a good person today, or they need to do better as a person today, or they just do it to let everyone know they are a good person. Either way, I find it idiotic, to say the least.
Its like, you’ve been traveling the same road to get to your destination everyday all your life, and you still need a map because you’re still afraid to get lost. Absurd isn’t it? You’ve already memorize the road’s terrain by now, the valleys, the rivers, the hills you have to traverse. All those uphill and downhill climb in life’s road you need to cross and endure, and still, you need something to remind you not to get lost.
The only reason we get lost is because we choose a path different from the ones we used to travel on our life’s journey. And there is nothing wrong with choosing a different path because, the road we often travel in life, the ones we’re familiar with, often takes us all day to travel. When you reach your destination, the sun has already set. Nothing wrong with that because we already reach the place where we want to go and we don’t need the sun to light our way. But then, there’s really nothing else to do anymore but to eat your dinner and sleep to get ready for the next day’s journey.
So we try a different road, the road we often pass everyday and somehow feel that we could get to our destination faster if we use this uncharted road. And that’s where we often get lost. And when we’re lost, we have two options, either we retrace our steps back to where we started, or we continue our journey and hope for the best. Most of us who are face with this dilemma often choose the former because it’s safer, easier, and much simpler to do. We get back to where we started and proceed with our life’s journey. But halfway through our journey, we discovered that, the sun has already set on us because we wasted so much time. The latter option is much more difficult because plainly speaking, we’re lost! So we consult our map. Yes, the same map we always carry traveling on the same road we knew all our life. And discovered to our horror that it only shows the path we already know. Nothing else… We’re lost…
What are we to do on that situation? Well, we stop, sit and anchor our two hands on the ground, close our eyes, and let out a series of deep breath for a minute or two. Then we open my eyes and look at the sky. And then we gaze at the birds flying overhead, and we ask ourselves. How do birds get to where they are going? They cross deserts and oceans, and they don’t read maps. They don’t even know what a map is. How do they do it???
And then we look at the direction of the sun, the same sun we hated all our life because of its burning heat. The same sun we wish would be covered with clouds when we travel everyday. And suddenly, we remember that, at any given place, we knew what time it is just by looking at the sun. Our body even knows if its morning or afternoon based on the heat our body receives from the sun. And at any given place, we knew the sun’s position relative to the time of day, and therefore, we knew which direction where we are going.
And suddenly, our mind begins to plot the direction where we want to go. Of course, we still don’t know where we are or the distance we still need to endure. But we now know the direction we are going to take. And when we are lost, it becomes our mission to find our way again no matter how long it takes to get there. The amazing thing is; when we reach our life’s destination, the sun is still shining bright on the horizon.
A good person does not need to remind himself everyday that he is one. Sure, we forget about it from time to time, but when we need it the most; it manifests itself, because we nurtured our soul by learning from our everyday experiences, good or bad. And getting lost is actually finding another path to give us a choice to travel on our next journey in life.
When you are a good person, you always find your way home.
