*PILOT* is not necessarily his profession. It’s just a monicker.
First CALL
After the radio program, my cellphone rang registering an unrecorded number, and I took the call. On the other line said the voice, ”Hi, this is Pilot's name. I read your text message to the program.”
”Oh, hhhaa…hi! Nice of you to call me!’‘
‘‘Yes!” (said his flirtatious, big, masculine voice.) ”Is it true that youre interested for a relationship with older men?”
”Well, yes. I have a special attraction for older men. But not every time. It’s still controllable. laughs.)
”Ah, talaga? Taga-saan ka?” tanong nya.
”Taga *toot* po. Mayor namin yun dati nyong katrabaho dyan, si *toot*.”
” Ah really? May boyfriend ka? ”
”Ah, wala po. I’m still in college. Im studying at the name of my university.”
”Ah talaga? Sige, I’ll save your number ha. I’ll call you later.”
Then I put down the phone.
That night, I had a tough time believing that this very anchorman just called me. His speaking voice kept reverberating in my ears and would not put me to sleep. I thought, he was now interested.
The BACKGROUND
I knew it all along in the course of my love affair with their radio program that he has been annulled from his wife and has a son. It is only the son that he treasures so much on top of everything else in the world.
I for one, during the time of this budding relationship, was fairly new in college, quite innocent in many ways, and I thought I only really wanted to be loved. I stand 5”3 on bare foot now, I’ve fair, bright skin; long, wavy, dark brown hair; and most of my friends and colleagues tell me I have this huge resemblance to the three young ladies from show business who definitely look all alike.
On the other hand, this ‘Pilot’ they say looks alot like (If I get this comparison across, you will now easily know who I am pertaining at. But I’ll still try ok?) a once very famous World number 1 tennis player, as well as a veteran drama actor/comedian who died 2 years ago. At the time of writing I am 27 years old, and he’s in his early 50s. I have my own place in one of the business districts in Metro Manila, and he’s keeping a house with his son at the place where his family has lived ever since there was time. As of the moment, he’s being heard on air regularly.
He is quite happy with his present life, I must say. And I am painstakingly taking each day at a time to keep him.
After the FIRST CALL
I was still living at my parent’s house at the time the first phone conversation took place. After that, he would text regularly just to say ”Hi, did you eat already?” or ‘‘are you listening to the program?”. And from then on, I would make sure that my ears were glued to each and every program every day of the week I was home; and whenever his voice was on air, I had this delightful feeling that ”hey, I am talking to this man on the phone and we’re exchanging text messages now!”
I considered myself the luckiest girl in the world! He was my huge crush. Yes, call me ‘‘tanga’‘ or ”malandi”, but if you know the feeling, I guess, maiintindihan nyo naman ako.
Due to the poor phone signal situations at my parents house, I had to climb upstairs to where I could clearly hear him talk on the phone. It was only casual talks, getting to know each other thing on the first few weeks of conversations, until one time he asked me,
”Kung magkikita tayo, sa’n kita pupuntahan?”
”Uhmm, sa malls. There are malls here, Robinsons Galleria, Megamall…”
”O kaya sa name of my university in QC ano? Pwede rin don!”
”But it’s a public place. We could get caught there.”
This time, I had already submitted myself into something physical with this guy in case we meet. In his car alone together. Meeting in person for the first time. Driving around aimlessly. It was going to be a huge risk for me to take.
The FIRST MEETING
Sa hindi inaasahan pagkakataon, one noontime in August, tinawagan nya ako at tinanong kung nasan ako.
‘‘Sa name of the building.”
”Magkita tayo. Ang lapit mo lang, shett.”
”Hha…hah? No Im not prepared! Nahihiya ako!”
”Ay naku, tigilan mo nga yan my whole name! Basta magkita tayo! Nasan ka?”
”Coming out of name of the building for lunch with my friends…uhmm, Im not sure. Nahihiya talaga ako.”
”Sige, malapit lang ako. Text me where you are at pupuntahan kita ok?”
I hung up. I could not respond anymore.
I was able to make it look like nothing was wrong, nothing was about to happen. My friends joined me for lunch. Lunch has ended, they all have left. And I was left on my own. Still thinking if I was going to show up for Pilot or not. If I dont, I would blow this chance. There might not be second invitations anymore. I would regret not meeting him in person … and something else.
Suddenly my phone rang. I cancelled it. Then he texted,
”Nasan ka?”
I told him where I was. All of a sudden, in a matter of a few minutes, he texted that he was already outside and waiting for me. He described his SUV. And there. When I went out, I saw him, the car, in its clear glass. He was in his blue round-neck tee-shirt, his right ear had piercing and had a stud earring on it. He was smoking, the left window rolled down while his left hand holding a what seems to be a Hope or Philip cigarette.
When I signaled and he saw me (he knew it was me as we already exchanged MMS pictures before this day, and he knew how I looked), he opened the door and let me in. I sat beside him. Stared at my face and smiled,
”Hi.”
”Uhmm… hello.”
”Ang ganda ng mata mo. You have pimples. Pero okay lang yan.” He said still smiling.
”Where do you want to go?” pagpapatuloy nya.
”I dont know. I really dont know. Nahihiya po ako.”
”Ay naku, tigilan mo nga yan.”
Then he started the engine and drove.
We drove around Quezon City and we went into Quezon Circle. There were a number of couples there having a date, some vendors, some city personnel, policemen, some scavengers. We drove farther into the corner where there was almost no one who could see us. My heart was beating really fast as I knew, but could not believe, that what was going to happen would now happen.
Finally, he stopped the car. The location was so silent that I could barely hear the traffic outside. He didnt stop the engine though. Then he faced me, removed his seatbelt and I removed mine, too. My heart must be beating 150kms per second now. He noticed that my hands were shaking and held my left hand.
”Okay lang yan. Youre pretty, alam mo ba yun?”
”Thank you ho. Im just nervous.”
So he grabbed my tiny face and pulled it so much closer to his, and started to kiss me as if there was no tomorrow. He kissed me like he has been deprived of it for so long. My eyes were closed, just savoring the moment. I tried to reciprocate at my best. And I think he liked it.
”Kaya ko ba gawin to?” Pagtatanong ko.
Then he smiled again while staring at me, then his eyes went down to my chest. He groped my breasts really hard, my breasts by that time were sized 34B and was quite impressive for my body frame.
